The University of Humanistic Studies is a small, independent university based in Utrecht, in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands. Its teaching and research are guided by humanist thought, addressing contemporary questions about meaning, worldview, and the creation of a humane society. Faculty draw on expertise from the social sciences and humanities to explore these issues. It is the youngest university in the Netherlands and the only institution offering degree programs in Humanistic Studies, Care Ethics and Citizenship, and Professionalism and Civil Society. Founded in 1989, it is fully recognised by the Dutch government. The institution emphasizes a multidisciplinary curriculum within a relatively small institutional size.
