The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is a historic higher education institution in Canada, founded in 1785 as the country’s oldest English-language university and among the first public universities in North America. It operates across campuses in Fredericton and Saint John, hosting more than 60 research centres and institutes. UNB serves over 10,500 students from more than 100 countries and offers more than 75 undergraduate and graduate programs across 14 faculties. As the largest research institution in New Brunswick, UNB conducts more than 70 percent of the province’s university research. In 2026, the university appointed Dr. Kathy Wilson as acting president and vice chancellor, and it is participating in events such as the Atlantic AI Summit in Fredericton in June 2026.
