The University of Science and Technology of China is a national research university based in Hefei, Anhui, China, operating under the direct leadership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is a member of the C9 League, a group of top Chinese universities. Founded in Beijing in 1958 by the CAS and moved to Hefei at the start of the 1970s, USTC has its core strength in scientific and technological research and has expanded into humanities and management with a strong emphasis on science and engineering. The university comprises a broad academic structure, including 12 schools and 30 departments, along with specialized programs such as a gifted youth program and graduate schools in multiple cities. USTC collaborates with other institutions and industry partners to advance research and education. In 2026, it expanded international collaboration with Télécom Paris, signing a student exchange agreement.
