UDC Law operates as a public-interest oriented law school within the higher education sector, based in Washington, D.C. It runs nine clinical programs and experiential learning opportunities, delivering more than 100,000 hours of legal services to District residents each year. The school maintains the largest clinical requirement of any U.S. law school, giving students hands-on experience in direct representation, community activism, and policy advocacy. It has earned national recognition for its public-interest focus, including a No. 2 ranking by the National Law Journal in 2018 for government and public interest job placement and a No. 5 ranking for Best Clinical Training Program by U.S. News & World Report in 2023. The student body is diverse, with representation by women, people of color, and older students, and in May 2025 it announced the launch of a Cybersecurity Tech Hub at its Congress Heights campus, in collaboration with Accenture and PeopleShores.
