UNRWA is a United Nations relief and works agency established by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Based in Amman, Jordan, it operates as a non-profit organization that provides protection and support to about 5.5 million Palestine refugees across the Near East, helping them progress in human development. Its programs cover education—from primary to vocational tracks—health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure, microfinance, and emergency response during armed conflict. Its mission centers on meeting both immediate needs and longer-term development goals for refugees. In 2022, UNRWA deployed a Digital Learning Platform to host classroom materials for use in schools and during closures, illustrating its push to expand accessible education.
