Urban Design 4 Health (UD4H) works with public and private sectors to achieve social impact and quality of life goals through urban planning. UD4H specializes in measuring the place-based relationships between land development, transportation and human activity patterns. An early pioneer in social determinants of health research, UD4H has an extensive demonstrated track record in conducting innovative research and applying it to real-world situations. 

UD4H serves clients in the U.S. and Canada, including local, regional, state/provincial, national governmental agencies, academic institutions, and private companies that include developers, planning firms, foundations, and other non-governmental organizations. 

The firm was originally incorporated as Lawrence Frank and Company (LFC) in the U.S. in 1997 and in Canada in 2003. Dr. Lawrence D. Frank is the founder and president of UD4H, and a Professor within the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of California San Diego.
