Urban Word is a nonprofit organization that supports youth voice through literary arts education and programs in creative writing, spoken word poetry, hip-hop, college preparation, and civic engagement. It is the founder of the National Youth Poet Laureate Program, a nationwide initiative that recognizes young writers and their impact on their communities. Across New York City, Urban Word engages more than 25,000 teens through programming in over 100 schools each year.
