US-Asia Institute is a private nonprofit organization associated with the United Nations as a nongovernmental entity under section 501(c)(3), dedicated to improving understanding and strengthening ties between the United States and Asia. Based in Washington, DC, it was founded in 1979 by Esther G. Kee and the late Joji Konoshima. The institute pursues its mission through conferences, off-the-record briefings, and people-to-people exchanges, sustaining ongoing interaction across government, business, and academic communities. Its network spans political, business, government, and academic leaders on both sides of the Pacific, providing insight and access to the U.S.–Asia relationship. The organization primarily serves policymakers, professionals, and institutions involved in government relations and diplomacy between the United States and Asia, offering dialogue channels and trusted engagement rather than traditional advocacy. In recent years it has formed partnerships to support programs such as IMPACT, including collaborations with FYLPRO and with the Philippine Embassy in the United States.
