USCET, based in Washington, DC, works to deepen US-China relations by increasing understanding of the United States among rising Chinese leaders. It advances this goal through engagement with Chinese higher education institutions and practitioners in American Studies and journalism/media, organizing programs that bring US experts to China for workshops, lectures, and conferences. A distinctive element is its two consortia—American Studies Network, comprising 53 Chinese universities and think tanks with American Studies centers, and the Media Education Consortium, comprising 37 Chinese universities with journalism or media programs—together reaching about seventy institutions. USCET convenes annual conferences for each consortium, bringing together Chinese scholars and practitioners with leading US colleagues. In 2026, it expanded collaboration by partnering with the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations to co-host the China Town Hall, reflecting ongoing cross-institutional exchange and publicly visible programs.
