US Family Health Plan is a small health care organization based in Arlington, Virginia, operating as part of the Military Health System. Founded in 1981, it provides health coverage to uniformed services dependents and retirees through the TRICARE Prime benefit across 16 states and the District of Columbia. The program is described as the first, and to date the only, population health and managed-care model within the Military Health System. Care is delivered through six designated, community-based providers: Brighton Marine Health Center, Christus Health, Johns Hopkins Health Care, Martin's Point Health Care, Pacific Medical Centers, and St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers. Its customers are dependents and retirees of uniformed services who rely on coordinated access to care through TRICARE Prime. In March 2026, US Family Health Plan announced a partnership with Southcoast Health System to expand its provider network in Southern New England.
