Based in Norfolk, Virginia, U.S. Fleet Forces Command is a component of the U.S. Navy responsible for training, certifying, and providing combat-ready naval forces to combatant commanders. Its mission covers prompt and sustained naval, joint, and combined operations in support of U.S. national interests, as well as directing subordinate Navy forces and shore activities in line with the Chief of Naval Operations. The command also provides operational planning and coordination support to U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Element North American Aerospace Defense Command, and U.S. Strategic Command, and it commands joint missions as Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command in coordination with U.S. Northern Command.
