Its role covers grassroots development with athletes, coaches, and race directors, as well as leadership and support for elite competitors participating in international events such as World Championships, Pan American Games, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Based in Colorado Springs, the organization operates within the spectator sports industry and aims to promote participation in triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, aquabike, winter triathlon, off-road triathlon, paratriathlon, and indoor and virtual multisport events. Since its founding in 1982, USA Triathlon has coordinated a broad calendar of sanctioned events and engages in partnerships and programs that extend its influence across national and international competition. Recent developments include partnerships to host national championships and to enhance safety and collegiate participation in the sport.
