USTA Southern is the largest of the United States Tennis Association's 17 regional sections. The USTA, founded in 1886, serves as the national governing body for tennis in the United States and owns the US Open, coordinating programs for players of all ages and ability levels. Based in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, it operates as a not-for-profit organization with a professional staff and a volunteer-driven governance model that includes a Board of Directors and more than 200 committees. The nine-state region accounts for about 160,000 members, roughly a quarter of the association's total membership. USTA Southern administers programs across its region to support players of varying ages and skill levels. In 2025, the national body introduced USTA Coaching, reflecting ongoing expansion of its player-development initiatives.
