Established in 1954, the Utility Contractors Association of New England, Inc. (UCANE) is comprised of over 250 major contractors and associated businessmen and women who perform underground utility construction projects (water, sewer, electrical, gas, fiber optics, etc.) primarily in Massachusetts and throughout New England. Our membership is made up of both union and non-union companies ranging in size from small family owned businesses to large corporations, as well as MBE, WBE and DBE firms.

Our Contractor Members…build some of the most complex water and sewer pipeline distribution, and drain and stormwater systems for state agencies, including the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and Boston Water & Sewer Commission (BWSC) as well as the 351 cities and towns in MA. In addition to installing pipe, our members build above ground water and sewer pump and metering stations, treatment plants, and storage tanks and vaults.
Our Associate Members…design, build, finance, insure, bond and supply materials and equipment to the underground water and sewer industry.
