UWV is a Dutch government agency that supports participation in society by helping people find or keep work. When illness affects a person’s ability to work, the agency, based in Amsterdam in North Holland, assesses what they can still do and, if work is not possible, ensures a timely income. It administers a set of employee insurances, including WW, WIA, WAO, WAZ, Wajong, Wazo and Ziektewet. It maintains a large public workforce and serves jobseekers, workers, people with limited access to the labor market, employers and stakeholders. At the end of January 2026, Maarten Jonker departed his roles as CIO and General Director of Corporate ICT; he will take on an acting director role at the Benefits Agency, part of the Ministry of Finance, starting February 1.
