Other cryotherapy devices that use ice carry a risk of frostbite, but the Vascutherm maintains its cold therapy in a safe temperature range, so patients can use the device freely for an extended period of time. Devices utilizing ice require patients to inconveniently and repeatedly refill the device with ice, which is the last thing a patient should have to do following a major surgery.
