Van Houten Tax & Business Solutions, Inc. was founded in early 2015 by Jim Van Houten as a boutique tax and business management firm, offering technical expertise and financial guidance to individuals, businesses/business owners, executives and the entertainment industry.  Our goal is to listen and understand you and your goals, and then customize our advice to suit your particular needs.

Van Houten Tax & Business Solutions has largely done away with the accounting firm practice of chargeable hours, as we don't believe that time has a direct correlation to the value of the services we provide.  Instead, our clients typically pay a flat monthly retainer that covers all their tax compliance, tax planning and personalized advice throughout the year.  We want our clients to call us for advice, and charging them for a phone call seems like the surest way to discourage that.  We also offer flat-fee project based billing, where we'll provide a fee quote up front.  We know our clients don't like surprises, so we try to take the surprise out of the billing process.

Ultimately, we aim to add value to your financial life.  Whether in the form of advice, proactive tax planning, financial organization or simply relieving your financial headaches by giving you more time to focus on what you do best.  If we are not adding value, then we are not succeeding as your accountants or business managers.
