The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is a performing arts organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 1919, it is among the largest orchestral institutions in Western Canada and ranks as one of the country's major orchestras, with its own music school. The VSO School of Music, established in 2011, is a purpose-built facility that offers comprehensive programs for learners from infancy to adulthood, integrating with the orchestra's artistic mission. The ensemble's mission centers on producing and presenting high-quality performances across classical, popular, and culturally diverse repertoires, while fostering audience engagement and educational and community initiatives. It stages more than 150 concerts per year across Vancouver, its surrounding communities, and the province, and serves a broad audience that includes tens of thousands of children and young adults. In 2023, the orchestra partnered with TD Bank to host a free concert, reflecting its engagement with community partnerships.
