The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based public safety organization serving Victoria. It aims to reduce the impact of emergencies by supporting planning, response, and recovery, while strengthening community resilience. VICSES is the control agency for floods, storms, tsunamis, earthquakes, and landslides in Victoria, and runs the largest road rescue network in Australia, supported by specialist teams across many units; it also assists Victoria Police in search and rescue operations and contributes to major bushfire responses. In addition to on-the-ground response, the organization works with municipal councils and communities to develop emergency management plans and provide advice, information, education, and training.
