Vietcombank is a Vietnamese banking institution with origins dating to 1963, when it began as the Cục Ngoại hối under the State Bank of Vietnam. It later transformed into a joint-stock commercial bank in 2008 after completing a privatization plan and was listed on the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange in 2009. Historically, the bank has contributed to economic stability and development and has played a leading role in foreign trade finance, with influence on regional and global financial communities. It set a goal to become the leading digital bank in Vietnam and to rank among the world's top 300 banking groups by 2020. 

Headquartered in Hanoi, Vietcombank serves the Vietnamese market with broad financial services and maintains a significant presence in the banking sector. In May 2026, it participated in a real-time risk information initiative at branch counters alongside other major banks to provide customers with timely risk updates.
