The Village of Huntley, located in the Kane and McHenry counties of Illinois along the I-90 corridor about 40 miles northwest of Chicago, operates as a council-manager municipality and is not home rule under the state constitution. Organized in 1851 and incorporated in 1872, it maintains a mid-sized municipal staff to serve a community spanning roughly 14 square miles.
