The Village of Westchester is a local government entity in the Government Administration industry, serving a residential community of about 17,000 in the Chicagoland area of western Cook County, Illinois. It operates under a Council/Manager form of government, with the Village President, Village Clerk, and six trustees elected at large to four-year terms, and a Village Manager who oversees five full-time departments: Administration & Finance, Police, Fire, Public Works, and Community Development. The village employs 11-50 people and is located at 10300 West Roosevelt Road, Westchester, IL 60154. It was incorporated in 1925 as a non-home rule, general-purpose government, and expansion and annexations have consumed nearly all open land within the village, leaving it primarily residential. Recent initiatives include launching a Westchester Community Alerts system powered by Everbridge in January 2026 and engaging paleBLUEdot in 2025 to develop its first Community-Wide Energy Plan.
