The City of Brussels is the municipal government of Brussels, Belgium, functioning as a public administration that manages local services. It is a large employer in the Brussels Region, with thousands of staff delivering a range of services to residents. The municipal administration is organized into twelve departments covering areas such as childcare facilities, a sizable school network, maintenance of streets and parks, and the management of real estate assets and rental housing. In addition to cultural life and sports events, the city hosts foreign delegations at the City Hall on the Grand-Place and handles civil registrations and identity-related services. Based in Brussels, the administration has pursued initiatives in recent years, including launching the seventh edition of its call for Smart City projects in January 2024.
