The Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF) is a small-to-mid-sized nonprofit based in Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2005 as a public-private partnership to advance school readiness in the Commonwealth. Operating as a non-partisan steward and capacity-builder, it provides leadership and coordinates initiatives designed to help Virginia's children enter kindergarten healthy and ready to learn. VECF's work centers on mobilizing stakeholders across Virginia's early education system to strengthen access to quality care and learning environments. In 2023, it launched the Virginia Business Roundtable for Early Education to bring together business leaders and chambers to advocate for increased and sustainable investments and policy improvements. That year also saw the launch of the Ready Region Blue Ridge program and the Early Educator Fast Track Initiative, aimed at addressing staffing shortages by connecting centers with trained assistant teachers.
