VLACS is a state-approved charter school, public school and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our approval to serve as a school comes directly from the NH State Board of Education which grants us the ability to award high school diplomas and academic credits.
The Virtual Learning Academy provides services in its middle and high school programs to any student who is under the age of 21 and has not earned a high school diploma. New Hampshire residents attend the school free of charge while students who reside outside of the state pay tuition.
Middle & High School Information
There are many reasons why students are attracted to online learning at VLACS.
• Flexibility — Students are in control of their academic schedule. Students can enroll in a course at any time and pursue their interests, talents, or passions at a time of the day that best fits their needs.
• Pace — We expect students to make regular progress based on an individualized pacing chart. However, one student may want to accelerate their progress while another student may need additional time to master competencies and earn a credit — both scenarios are possible at VLACS.
• Flexible learning journeys — Because VLACS is competency-based, students have the opportunity to enroll in one of 140+ competency groups which can be completed as a typical online course or customized to include projects, internships, independent study, teams, etc.
• Failure is not an option — Students are allowed to continue working on a competency until mastered. At VLACS, students have the flexibility to master a competency quickly or to continue working until they attain their academic goals.
Adult Education Information
Programming for the VLACS Adult Education program includes enrichment courses, adult diploma courses, and eventually college/career readiness or certificate learning journeys designed to provide a wealth of options for those over 21 years of age.
