Visual Communications is a Los Angeles–based organization that develops and supports the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander filmmakers and media artists. Founded in 1970 by a group of pioneering independent filmmakers, the organization began as the region's first Asian Pacific media arts center. Over time it evolved into a hub for artistic development and resources for media creators, while preserving visual history. It administers the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF), an eight-day event highlighting work by established and emerging AAPI filmmakers. The festival screens more than 150 films and attracts an audience of over 25,000 through screenings, seminars, talks, and related events. Through its programs, Visual Communications serves as a conduit for Asian Pacific communities to reach the American public, supporting talent across Hollywood and beyond.
