VNO-NCW is the Netherlands’ largest employers’ organization and operates as a non-profit entity. Based in The Hague, it represents Dutch business interests at home and abroad and provides a range of services to its members. Through more than 160 member associations, it covers over 185,000 enterprises across nearly all sectors, including the majority of medium-sized firms and most larger corporate institutions. The organization seeks to improve the Dutch business climate by engaging with government, public authorities, trade unions and other partners. It sits on key advisory forums, including the Social and Economic Council and the Labour Foundation, and regularly shapes policy affecting business. In 2025, it partnered with Rijkswaterstaat and the water boards to develop a self-assessment tool for companies with permit-required direct discharges into surface water.
