Voices of Ascension is a New York–based choral and orchestral ensemble that curates and performs a high-level repertoire from diverse periods and nationalities. The organization emphasizes disciplined musicianship and aims to create immersive musical experiences for both performers and audiences, with performances supported by a professional ensemble and paid union-scale compensation for all concerts. Its core audience consists of concertgoers seeking serious choral and orchestral music, as well as radio listeners and listeners of the label releases that extend the reach of its performances. Founded in 1990 at the Church of the Ascension in Greenwich Village, the group has a five-concert annual choral season and assembles a core professional vocal ensemble that expands for selected works, supplemented by a professional instrumental contingent for a subset of performances.
