Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio operates as the Ohio arm of a national, faith-based nonprofit focused on helping people rebuild their lives through a wide range of services, including housing and healthcare. Based in Columbus and founded locally in 1896, it is part of Volunteers of America’s nationwide network that assists nearly 2 million people nationwide, including more than 23,000 in Ohio and Indiana. The organization serves vulnerable populations such as at-risk youth, the frail elderly, individuals returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions. In March 2026, VOA Ohio & Indiana opened a new location in Indianapolis and began construction on a recovery home there, illustrating ongoing regional expansion. The group carries out its mission across a spectrum of human services, aiming to support clients’ housing, health, and broader social needs through programs and partnerships.
