The Washington Bach Consort, based in Washington, D.C., is a musical ensemble dedicated to the study and performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s complete vocal and instrumental works and those of his Baroque contemporaries. Established in 1977 by the late Dr. J. Reilly Lewis, the organization pursues Bach at a high artistic standard and collaborates across the Baroque repertoire. Its mission includes broadening its audience through concerts, collaborations with other ensembles, media appearances, recordings, and tours, and promoting Bach appreciation in the community through education programs presented by its members.

The organization operates with a small-to-mid-sized staff and serves audiences interested in Bach and Baroque music. By focusing on both vocal and instrumental works and engaging with other performing groups and community education, it positions itself within the early-music scene as a dedicated Bach-focused ensemble.
