Waterschap Vechtstromen is a Dutch government administration body focused on water management. Its mission is to deliver clean, safe, and sufficient water while fostering an attractive living environment for people, plants, and animals, and facilitating business activity in a sustainable and cost-conscious way. The organization is based in Almelo, in the province of Overijssel, and serves the Twente, Noordoost-Overijssel, and Zuidoost-Drenthe regions. Its service area spans roughly 225,000 hectares and includes 23 municipalities. It oversees about 4,800 kilometers of rivers, creeks, and other waterways and operates 26 wastewater treatment plants that serve around 800,000 residents. The workforce is sizeable, with teams actively managing the water system on a daily basis.
