Wayne County Schools Career Center is a mid-sized education organization based in Smithville, Ohio, delivering vocational training and adult and community education. It originated in 1969 as the Wayne County Joint Vocational School to serve high school juniors and seniors, and it was renamed in 1984 to reflect an expanded program mix. Today, the center offers 30 career and technical programs and 18 academic courses, with two offsite tracks at Wooster High School and The University of Akron Wayne College. The center's adult education arm began in 1967 with a practical nursing program and has grown into a full-service Adult and Community Education Center, offering more than 135 class offerings to more than 3,500 students annually, including online courses.
