WCI began in 1959 as an employer association, focused on helping member organizations build and perpetuate “positive employee relationships” in their workplaces. Starting with thirteen companies in six counties, WCI has grown to servicing more than 800 work sites throughout Western North Carolina as well as the South Carolina Upstate, Eastern Tennessee, and Western Virginia. Our Mission is two-fold: First, to help our members develop relationships with their employees that promote harmony and engagement in the workplace—an internal culture that fosters alignment between employee goals and organizational objectives. Second, to leverage the collective power of the group, because some things can only be achieved through economies of scale—issues like healthcare, lobbying, training, and reducing risks. Together, we can create a business environment that will facilitate success for each of our members.
