The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is an independent special taxing district created by the Florida legislature in 1967 to guide the city's downtown development within the government administration framework. Its mandate includes analyzing downtown economic conditions and changes, including metropolitan growth, traffic, parking, and deterioration of structures. It formulates long-range plans aimed at improving downtown appeal, use, and public accessibility, and at addressing the deterioration of property values. It also provides recommendations to the city, local business owners, and residents on the actions best suited to implement downtown development plans.

Headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, the DDA operates as a small to mid-sized government entity serving downtown stakeholders. In 2026 it launched the DowntownWPB Unlocked immersive augmented reality tour, developed in partnership with Hoverlay, representing a digital approach to showcasing downtown dynamics.
