Wheeler-Rex is a machinery manufacturer based in Ashtabula, Ohio, with roots dating to 1957 when it introduced a chain-type snap cutter for cast iron and clay tile pipes. That invention laid the groundwork for a broad line of pipe-related tools used across plumbing, waterworks, fire sprinkler, construction, and municipal applications. Over the years the company expanded its offerings to include cutting, beveling, testing, tapping, and shut-off equipment for various pipe materials, with products sold worldwide. In 1988 Wheeler Manufacturing joined Rex Industries, aligning with a company that provides threading, beveling, and grooving machines. Today Wheeler-Rex distributes its products through a global network of authorized distributors and service centers, and in 2018 introduced the Model 4992 Tubing Cutter for small-diameter non-ferrous tubing and plastic pipe in tight spaces.
