White Ocean Capital Management is in the process of launching a Long/Short Credit Fund primarily focused on High Yield corporate debt. The Fund is planned to offer a competitive yield and potential total return opportunity, along with potential downside hedge protection. The firm is led by Senior Managing Partner, Matt Philo, who ran the $20 plus billion High Yield group at Mackay Shields. The last two iterations out of Mackay were Golden Tree (Matt was Tannenbaum’s sole analyst in early-1997) and then Brigade Capital (Matt was Co-head at Mackay from 2000-2005 with Don Morgan). Also joining White Ocean as Managing Partners are: 1) CEO, Robert Enslein, who served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Loeb Capital Management (a $1.3+ billion multi-strategy hedge fund), President of Aremet Capital Management, (a Greenwich, Connecticut based energy equity and commodity hedge fund), and senior roles at major global investment banks and investment management firms (including: Mackay Shields, ING Barings, Credit Suisse, Jefferies & Co., and Gerard Klauer Mattison); and 2) President & COO, Glen Dailey, who built the Prime Brokerage businesses at Bank of America and Jefferies.
