Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center is a community-based nonprofit in the hospitals and health care sector that provides affordable primary and preventive medical and dental care, along with addiction services, to uninsured and underserved residents in the Capital Region. Founded in 1971 and based in Albany, New York, the organization operates eight sites across Albany, Troy, and Watervliet, including school-based clinics in three Albany elementary schools. It also offers mobile dental services through Seal-a-Smile, a collaboration with the Healthy Capital District Initiative. The center aims to reduce health disparities by delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care that combines chronic disease management with prevention and early intervention, addressing both clinical and behavioral health needs. It serves predominantly low-income, uninsured minority residents facing access barriers, and supports patients with transportation, translation, education, nutrition, and case management; in 2024 the organization expanded its clinical team with new providers.
