Wichita Falls Independent School District is a public education system based in Wichita Falls, Texas, serving the North Texas community. It educates about 12,600 students across a network that includes two early childhood campuses, 14 elementary schools, three middle schools, an alternative campus, and a Career Education Center offering 26 career pathways. In 2024 the district opened two new high schools with modern learning environments and facilities for fine arts and athletics. As the largest district in Region 9 and the largest of North Texas' 38 public school districts, WFISD is accredited by the Texas Education Agency. Its mission is to equip students to become contributing members of their community, guided by a belief in safe, high-quality education and engaged leadership; a recent development includes a 2026 partnership with Vernon College under the JET grant to provide equipment for educational and career training opportunities.
