William Mangum Fine Art started in 1981 in Greensboro, North Carolina as Carey-Mangum Gallery, established with the help of Bill Mangum’s brother Bob Carey. Mangum was known as a productive painter, reportedly delivering a new work each week, and early exposure came from storefront displays near a grocery store. Within a few years the business expanded to occupy the whole store, creating a dedicated 2,000-square-foot gallery.

Today the space has grown to nearly 5,000 square feet, presenting Mangum’s paintings alongside limited-edition prints. The gallery is recognized as one of the finest art galleries in the South, situating it in the artists and writers field and serving collectors and art enthusiasts. Based in Greensboro, it operates as a small operation with a minimal staff.
