We provide an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) throughout the county and beyond, delivering the best medical care possible to anybody who lives, works or travels in Wiltshire. Our paramedics are trained in Critical Care skills, enabling them to perform enhanced procedures and administer additional pain relief and medication. The air ambulance can be ready for take-off in just two minutes and reach anywhere in Wiltshire within nine minutes. The speed of our helicopter, along with the skill of our crew, can make the difference between life and death. We can fly up to 19 hours a day and attend, on average, 3 potentially lifesaving missions a day. We are called to all kinds of emergencies, from road traffic collisions to cardiac incidents, child-related emergencies to horse riding and cycling injuries. These incidents are not just in Wiltshire but in neighbouring counties as well. On board the aircraft we have all the kit you would find on a land ambulance, with extra specialist equipment to enable our crew to provide the best medical care possible - in effect, bringing a mobile A&E to the people of Wiltshire. Wiltshire Air Ambulance is funded by you and flying for you - we are a charity that relies on public donations, the support of businesses and the local community to raise the £4.5 million a year needed to keep this lifesaving service and crew flying.
