Winneshiek Medical Center operates as a charitable nonprofit community hospital and clinic delivering care across northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota since 1914. As the second largest Critical Access Hospital in Iowa, it is owned by the residents of Winneshiek County. Its medical staff comprises WinnMed physicians alongside partners from Mayo Clinic Health System and Emplify Health by Gundersen, with clinics located in Decorah, Ossian, and Mabel, Minnesota. The center offers a broad spectrum of services, including multi-specialty surgery, advanced imaging such as MRI, CT, x-ray, and 3D mammography overseen by an on-site radiologist, rehabilitation and sports medicine, diabetic education, home health and hospice, obstetrics, and around-the-clock emergency and urgent care, plus ambulance services. \n\nPositioned as the region's largest and most specialized hospital, WinnMed provides outreach to schools and nursing homes and maintains outpatient clinics across multiple communities. Headquartered in Decorah, Iowa, the system continues to expand its capabilities, most recently launching the Vinci 5 robotic surgical system in December 2025 to expand minimally invasive procedures.
