The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is a United States–based standards development organization established in 2008 to advance wireless power through formal specifications. It coordinates two main standards—Qi for wireless charging of small mobile electronics and Ki for cordless kitchen appliances—and works with a network of more than 325 member companies across the computers and electronics manufacturing sector. Qi is the global standard for wireless charging of mobile electronics, with more than 11,000 Qi Certified products currently available. Qi2, the latest generation, launched in November 2023 and is already deployed in nearly 1.5 billion devices worldwide. Ki, released in fall 2024, aims at cordless kitchen applications with products expected on the market in 2025, and the Ki Cordless Kitchen initiative has received multiple innovation awards. In February 2026, Qi2 version 2.3 was launched.
