WISCIENCE, the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement, operates within the University of Wisconsin–Madison to foster collaboration across campus and with external partners aimed at enhancing science education and broadening participation in STEM. Its work focuses on supporting educators and expanding STEM outreach by aligning teaching and learning initiatives with community engagement. The programs deliver professional development and engagement experiences in teaching, community involvement, leadership, and STEM research for a range of participants, including undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, and faculty and staff. Founded in 1989 as the Center for Biology Education, WISCIENCE is now part of UW–Madison's Division for Teaching and Learning. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the organization is a small- to mid-sized unit within the university.
