Women Aware, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in the individual and family services sector based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, serving Middlesex County with a focus on survivors of domestic violence. Founded in 1981, the organization combines practical skills training with intensive case management, offering safety planning, housing assistance, counseling, life skills, parenting education, children’s therapy, advocacy, health education and translation services. Its programs include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, community education, support groups, and children’s programs, all provided free and confidentially regardless of background. Each year, Women Aware shelters 250 women and children and supports safety-net programs for about 2,000 additional individuals, handling roughly 7,000 hotline calls. It serves as the lead domestic violence agency for Middlesex County and added governance changes with a new member joining its Board of Trustees in 2025. The organization works to promote safety and self-sufficiency for individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Middlesex County.
