Women Who Code, based in New York, is described as a global nonprofit in the civic and social sector focused on empowering women in technology. Over its history it built a large community of technologists—nearly half a million members—supported by volunteers across 145 countries. The organization facilitated more than 20,000 community-led technical trainings, provided scholarship support totaling $3.5 million, and recorded over a million hours of volunteer service, while linking members to more than 14,000 career opportunities. In April 2024, the organization reportedly shut its doors due to funding constraints. Recently, the brand was welcomed into the LWT family of brands, described as an expansion rather than a merger. Under this arrangement, two programs were launched: WWCode Leadership, which targets development of leadership skills for mid-to-senior technologists, and WWCode Cities membership, which facilitates local connections and introductions to support career growth.
