World Archery acts as the global governing authority for archery, and it is recognised by the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, and other organisations. The federation promotes and regulates archery worldwide and supports development through international events, coaching, and development programs, working with more than 150 member associations. It was founded on 4 September 1931 in Lwow, Poland, as FITA, and is currently headquartered in Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland. It oversees the Archery World Cup, the premier international archery circuit that has been held since 2006. In late 2024, Hyundai Motor Company signed a sponsorship agreement with World Archery through 2025 to support the sport's global events, including the Hyundai Archery World Cup and Hyundai World Archery Championships.
