OMCT is a coalition of international non-governmental organizations focused on human rights and the elimination of torture, summary executions, enforced disappearances, and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. It runs the SOS-Torture network, which includes more than 200 affiliated organizations and thousands of correspondents worldwide, and it is a member of the United Against Torture Consortium. The organization is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and coordinates cross-border efforts to address torture and related abuses. OMCT's activities include providing medical and social support to torture victims and ensuring they have access to justice. It communicates urgent cases to protect individuals and fight impunity, and it submits communications to United Nations special mechanisms. In June 2025, OMCT launched the Global Torture Index with input from more than 80 national civil society organizations, an initiative that assesses the risk of torture and ill-treatment in each country on an annual basis.
