The World Water Council is an international organization focused on raising awareness, building political commitment, and spurring action on critical water issues across all levels of decision making. It seeks to support the efficient conservation, protection, development, planning, management, and use of water in all its dimensions, guided by environmental sustainability for the benefit of life on Earth. Founded in 1996 and based in Marseille, France, it operates as a platform for dialogue among governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses, professional networks, and research institutions. It brings together around 300 member organizations from more than 50 countries, reflecting a broad, cross-sector network in the environmental services arena. Its aim is to encourage debates and exchanges of experience to reach a common strategic vision on water resources and water services management, with initiatives converging toward its flagship World Water Forum. In 2025, the World Water Council participated in the Qingdao International Water Conference, underscoring ongoing engagement with global water leadership.
