The World Wide Workshop Foundation creates learning applications that merge game mechanics and social networking to enable youth to become inventors and leaders in the global knowledge economy. Its programs connect learners with hands-on experiences, community involvement, and opportunities for economic development through the production of games. Operating in the e-learning field, the organization supports education through technology-enabled, collaborative projects. The foundation is based in New York City and works with school systems, universities, corporations, foundations, and research centers worldwide to augment formal and non-formal education with new technology and innovative learning opportunities, with a goal of expanding quality educational access for youth in the United States and globally. In July 2011, it announced a partnership with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem to teach youth jazz and digital literacy through Globaloria, a network that enables young people to learn by creating video games.
