WSP, formerly AKF, is a design services firm based in New York, New York. Founded in 1989 as a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering practice, it emphasized leadership, direct access to top talent, and a streamlined structure free from excessive hierarchy. The firm established a flat organization and integrated field, design, and technical services under a single point of contact to reduce project friction and support work from concept through facility operations across workplace, higher education, hospitality, and healthcare. On May 1, 2024, AKF joined WSP, enabling access to WSP’s global network while preserving an entrepreneurial culture and a focus on engineering excellence and client satisfaction. 

The company maintains active community involvement, including participation in CANstruction, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Cycle for Survival, the American Heart Association's Wall Street Run and Heart Walk, and the Special Olympics Minnesota's Polar Plunge, along with pro-bono engineering work through ACE Mentor Program, the Salvadori Center, and YouthBuild Boston. Since joining WSP, the firm continues to pursue engineering work within the built environment with attention to decarbonization, leveraging the broader network while maintaining its client-focused approach.
